Monthly TBR: March

One of my favorite parts about doing TBRs is looking back and seeing which books I did not read the month prior but manage to read the next month. So far, I’ve read nine out of twenty-one books on my TBR. That’s not bad! (Not enough to outpace how many books I continue to buy, but you know, little steps.)

Another reason I love TBRs is because they’re so helpful in expanding how much I read. One ongoing challenge I have going is reading a series a month. (For now, I’m planning on only attempting series with less than five books because I want this goal to be realistic.) In January, I read the Illuminae Files. In February, I read Stalking Jack the Ripper–although I admittedly did not finish the third book. It’s only time that I read another fan favorite in the bookish community. Hint: images

You may have noticed another pattern of mine: migrating books. If I don’t get to a book one month but I really want to read it, I keep moving it till I read it. That’s one thing that is also not changing anytime soon! Any repeat titles are on this list because 1) they’re March releases, 2) dodging spoilers is too much work, and 3) I need to stop procrastinating on reading them. In order to make this list more effective, I cut down my list to seven titles, with the hope that I’ll read all of them this month. Check out the seven titles that made it to this month’s TBR below!

To Best the Boys by Mary Weber

I’m ALWAYS here for a heroine who says f*ck the status quote, especially if it’s to save their family.

The Mermaid’s Voice Returns in This One (Women Are Some Kind of Magic #3) by Amanda Lovelace

I read the The Princess Saves Herself in This One about a year ago, and I really loved the feminist messages in it. Super excited to dig into the finale of this poetry series!

5

The Wicked King (The Cruel Prince #2) by Holly Black

The Cruel Prince had a horrible– wonderful?– cliffhanger. I’m SCARED, and excited, to read the sequel since I know the stakes are 10x higher.

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

In January, I read and reviewed an extract and holy hell, I ADORED it!!! There are dragons. Forbidden magic. Religion. A queendom. There’s 848 pages of thickness that I can’t wait to devour.

6

The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

I read Shadow & Bone several years ago but never got around to finishing the series due to time constraints. With all the recent Grisha news– King of Scars release and Netflix TV show– I thought now would be the perfect time to dive into this world.

So many amazing books to read this month and I can’t wait to start! Fortunately, spring break is around the corner and we have three more days than in February.

What’s your most anticipated book for the month? If you don’t have one, what’s one book that you’re planning on reading this month that you’re excited for?
